Great Recommendation!

MAVTV

MAVTV

I’m really humbled by the great recommendation my boss, Rob, gave me today on LinkedIn.

He wrote: ”Steven has worked directly with me for several years at MAVTV. He was instrumental in our ability to build the value of our start-up company and successfully sell the company this year. Steven has been a tremendous self-starter and was responsible for keeping a 24/7 television network on the air, 365 days of the year. He also served as editorial manager for our website and singlehandedly kept the site updated on a daily basis. Steven is a nose-to-the-grindstone sort of guy and is a consummate team player with a great overall attitude. In a day and age where companies understand the value of employees who can wear several hats at once, Steven is one of these important multitalented guys.”

Wow. Always great to hear positive feedback like that!

Since 2008, I’ve been the Online Editorial & Marketing Manager for MAVTV, a venture started by several former executives from the Showtime premium channel network. It has been a great privilege working with these guys and learning the television business from them.

We’ve come a long way in turning a small company into a recognized brand with nationwide availability. If you don’t get MAV where you live, by all means ask your cable or satellite provider to add it to your local channel lineup. It’s a great channel! I wouldn’t feel so passionate about promoting it if I didn’t enjoy the programming myself.  I have it through Dish Network, available as Channel 361 on the Platinum HD tier.

The guys, who started the network in 2004, recently sold it to Lucas Oil, a giant in the motorsports world. Since motorsports makes up the majority of MAV’s programming, it makes perfect sense.

I’ve actually had my job writing the “Lucas Oil Presents The Works” blog on MAVTV.com by virtue of funding Lucas provided to MAVTV, so many thanks to Forrest and Charlotte Lucas as well as Executive Vice President Bob Patison. I’ve never met them, but if I ever do I’ll be sure to shake their hand and thank them for keeping me employed during this recession!
